the Golden Rule no longer applies

The problem we have today is there is a “slippage” in morals, in being respectful, courteous, kind, polite, honest and concerned for fellow man. We look around at the lack, not so much of religion, but of civility. That thing that makes us human, the ability to empathize with someone, not cognizant of a person’s color, gender, nationality. We have lost the concept of this country that is being welcoming of all people in spite of the way this country began.

Religion was a great controller of people without putting much effort into it. Hire a preacher, get a stack of bibles, pass them out and then guide and direct people to those passages that made them behave in a way that was “acceptable to GOD”. It’s actually society working to control the masses. Religion, church and spirituality are mutually exclusive (and that’s a story for another day).

Religion slipping away is one thing. Morals slipping away is something else entirely. The internet may be largely to blame for this slippage. It’s become the place to go to say and do things one cannot do out in the open. People form opinions about themselves and others, because there is no self-editing. You can say what you want, become someone else and make up what ever story you like that fits the online persona. The Golden Rule no longer applies.

The problem with that, what you say and do unfiltered online, seeps into the common speech, in the loss of being courteous. I’d bet money that the old lady in the restaurant who disrespected the pregnant soldier had been in a chat room or on a website that told her that black people (in the 21st century!) are animals that need to be neutered and corralled so they can’t breed, infest or infect the many good (white) people who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, food on their tables and clothes on their children’s backs.

There are way too many stories online, on TV and in magazines and newspapers daily talking about a black person was shot, arrested, jailed or in some manner persecuted just because they are black. The ultimate conspiracy is the fact that black men make up the majority of the nation’s prison population. I guess that’s one way to make sure another MLK or Malcolm won’t crawl out of the woodwork

People of color are daily subjected to overt and covert racism, bigotry, bias, insults, the slings and arrows of outrageous persecution, psychological trauma, mental anguish, overt and covert taunts; the likes of which haven’t been seen since the days when lynching was the norm to keep the “colored” population “in check”.

That was outlawed. So now, instead of a rope, people use words, laws, rules that are designed to slowly bleed away the rights of brown-skinned people, the world over. People have become so comfortable with this once again overt racism, they even managed to put a man in an office who should never have been put in there in the first place. Trump is so unfit to be president, I think if Sigmund Freud were alive, he’d be scratching his head. Classic narcissistic tendencies, a touch megalomanical, manipulative, sociopath who surrounds himself with syncophants and enablers, including his children who have been in thrall since birth.

I’ve noticed that when people think you’re actually happy, comfortable or peaceful, they make it their business to cause some sort of psychological trauma to disrupt those conditions. They’re unhappy, uncomfortable and not peaceful, so they want to you be that way also. My ex-husband called that “crab in the barrel syndrome”.

It’s a situation where you’re somewhere and for some odd reason, people think it’s ok to either victimize you or be rude and to them it’s entertainment of some kind. Somehow you’re being punished for being somewhere you’re not wanted  or because you’re perceived as “different”.

I’m living in a city where people don’t invite different people into their circles so that what you have is a stagnated environment where nothing improves or changes because no one wants to invite new ideas or new ways or new concepts into their lifestyle or system or group of friends.

They avoid this by assuming that because a person looks a certain way, they can’t be anything other than what someone else says you are, not what you say you are. If someone tries to present themselves as other than what everybody else does, that person becomes “crazy” “funny-acting”  or some other label/handle that misses the mark entirely. People here need to start discarding assumptions about someone that are based on the way a person looks or what stupid high school someone went to. Looks have absolutely nothing to do with a person’s education, life experiences, abilities, etc. You can’t f**ing categorize anybody  by something so trivial as high school and who someone is as an adult has nothing to do with high school.  Perhaps a personality was formed during high school, but if you keep living, you hopefully get many years away from that event for it to make a difference in the big picture.

There must be a way to tear down those psychological barriers that only serve to hold everyone back from their true potential.

what civil rights?

US Constitution: The Fifth Amendment says to the federal government that no one shall be “deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law.”

US Constitution: The Fourteenth Amendment “limits the actions of all state and local officials, including those acting on behalf of such an official.”

The US Bill of Rights, Article 6 states: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.” Article 7 states “…nor [shall any person] be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law…”

Anybody know any good constitutional/civil rights attorneys interested in taking on local police stations? Pick a state, any state…

Maybe we need to add a 28th Amendment saying cops are not allowed to use guns to deprive a [Black] human being of life unless that [black] human is actually shooting at them. A person with a gun stuck in their waistband or a toy replica is not grounds for depriving a human of life.

A human being should not be deprived of medical care while in the custody and control of a police or peace officer.

hate speech 101

hate speech is any speech, gesture or conduct, writing, or display which is forbidden because it incites violence or prejudicial action against or by a protected individual or group, or because it disparages or intimidates a [particular] individual or group.”

any time the donald stands up in front of a crowd and cameras, he is practicing “hate speech”. nowadays, people hide hate speech in dog whistle rhetoric, pretending concern over the current state of affairs vis-a-vis “the immigrant situation”, “the crime situation” or “the muslim situation” . it’s all cleverly hidden rhetoric for the same tone, language and attitudes that many whites had when I was growing up as a child. “the only good ni-word is a dead n-word”, except now, it takes 20 words to say the same thing the previous 8 words say. if you notice, these words are coming out of the mouth of a human who thinks his money makes him invulnerable to consequences. if anyone complains, his lawyers get together and throw money at the problem until it goes away. trump gets the bill and that’s all he gets.

if you thought reagan and bush were bad, wait’ll you get a load of “the donald”. bend over and kiss this country good-bye.

this probably means we need to now add immigrants, gays and muslims to the “protected” category in the 1st amendment.

“out of a mountain of despair, a stone of hope”

and something very strange is going on…

Black people are being judged by the color of their skin…

not the content of their character…

It’s why so many black people are being murdered…

and all of us are targets in this 21st century…
